As I was returning home from the Discovery Education Common Core Academy today, I received a phone call from the coordinator of the Chittenden County Homeless Shelter in Vermont to thank our group for supplying them with the lunch bags to feed their clients.  The clients loved the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips and juice and were particularly excited about the fresh apples included in their lunch.  She also commented that the card we included gave it a personal touch and meant a lot to them. Apparently several of them saved the card and carry it around with them.

It has only been a week and a half since we said goodbye in Vermont, but this phone call reminded me of the friendships and bonds we established at the Summer Institute that will last a lifetime. Your generosity and willingness to reach out and help others is overwhelming. I am humbled and proud to be part of the DEN and help spread the DEN Love!
